Inspiring Audiences: For over 20 years, Maplewood Community Music has been providing free performances to audiences of all ages across the area. From children and families to seniors and veterans, our concerts enrich lives with a wide variety of music—classical, jazz, holiday, patriotic, and more. Research shows that both listening to and playing music improves learning, memory, concentration, and reduces stress, offering great value to our busy lives.

Enriching Musicians: MCM offers a space for amateur musicians to continue their musical journey. Many former school band members stop playing as adults, but MCM gives them the chance to reconnect with music, meet other musicians, and perform in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Our bands bring joy and fulfillment to the musicians while also enriching the community.

Expanding the Cultural Arts: Our community is fortunate to have access to vibrant local arts programs, and MCM plays a key role in sustaining the tradition of American community bands. These bands have been an essential part of American culture for over two centuries. Your support helps preserve this tradition and provides valuable cultural experiences for everyone.

How Will My Donation Be Used?

Your donation ensures that MCM can continue to thrive and provide more music to the community. Here's how your contribution will make a difference:

Supporting Hobbyist Musicians: Donations cover the costs of our community bands, including musical directors, sheet music, instruments, and more. Your support helps musicians continue their passion for music.

Free Concerts for All Ages: Contributions help us continue to provide free concerts to a wide range of audiences at local venues, including children, seniors, and veterans. Donations offset the costs of music directors, venues, and equipment.

Partnering with Local Organizations: Your donation helps us provide music enrichment programs for local youth and the broader community. Events such as instrument zoos, music demonstrations, and town events require sheet music, supplies, and more.

Providing Live Music for Local Events: Donations support the provision of free live music for community events, including the necessary materials and supplies for youth music activities.

In addition to the above, donations also support publicity, music maintenance, insurance, licensing, and more. We keep administrative costs low by relying on volunteers for event planning, operations, marketing, fundraising, and other essential tasks.

Other Ways to Help

In addition to financial contributions, we also need volunteers! MCM depends on volunteers to support various activities, such as greeting guests, staffing publicity tables, photography, videography, creative writing, and more. Your time and talents can make a big impact.

MCM is a NJ Nonprofit & Tax-exempt Organization

Maplewood Community Music, Inc. is a NJ nonprofit organization and the IRS has determined that Maplewood Community Music, Inc. is exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3). Donors can deduct contributions they make to MCM under IRC Section 170. Please consult with your tax adviser or the IRS to determine whether your contribution is deductible.
