Susan Williams – Co-founder and Jazz Ensemble Operations Manager

Susan’s vision to create a community band in Maplewood, giving others a chance to be in “the band” beyond school, is what brought Maplewood Community Music to life. Her inspiration and drive have allowed generations of local musicians to keep playing, connect with others, and enrich the community through performance.

Ben Williams – Swing Town Musical Director, Community Jazz Leader & Educator

As the driving force behind our community big band, Ben's dedication has brought the joy of jazz and swing to audiences of all ages. His commitment to music education and outreach has also given young musicians valuable opportunities to learn, perform, and grow — helping to ensure the next generation stays connected to the power of live music.

All Our Audiences

A big thank you to all our enthusiastic audience members over the years. Without you, a band is nothing but a bunch of musicians rehearsing. While that can be an exciting experience in and of itself, it's no substitute for sharing our love of music, seeing the smiles and the tapping toes, and seeing kids eyes light up when they hear a familiar tune.
